A beer festival’s return to a Shropshire town has been hailed a success after more than a 1,000 pints were served at the town’s church.

Hosted this year by the Bridgnorth Lions who had partnered with beer aficionados, CARMRA, the town’s annual beer festival took place at St Leonard’s Church.

The location was chosen, the Lions said would provide an exciting way to sample the beers, ciders and craft ales while surrounded by the beautiful architecture of the famous church.

Howard Davies from the group said the location proved a hit.

“The festival got off to a flying start on Thursday evening when the bar was declared open at 5pm- till 9.30pm,” he said. “Friday and Saturday it was open from 12 noon till 9.30pm.

“Along with a selection of over 30 ales was the cider bar offering 10 different ciders. “Entertainment was on hand in the form of live music and a disco.

It is estimated that well over 1,100 pints of fine ale were served plus plenty of cider.”

He said the organisers wished to thank all the volunteers, which included CAMRA members and The Lions club members.

“CAMRA and The Bridgnorth Lions have received good feedback and are already planning next year's event, hopefully in St Leonards once again,” said Howard.
