A man who died after a tree fell on his car during Storm Darragh was the owner of a Staffordshire curry house.

Kahir Shahin Hussain tragically died when a tree collapsed and fell on the car he was driving on Sutton Road in Erdington, Birmingham, at about 3pm on Saturday.

It came at the height of Storm Darragh, which brought gale force winds and heavy rain.

The 55-year-old, who lived in Aston with his family, was the owner of Qmin restaurant in Bird Street, Lichfield.

Hundreds of trees were brought down across the region during the winds, which reached up to 60mph as the storm hit the region at the weekend.

Travel was disrupted with a number of train services cancelled and roads closed.
