Wolverhampton golfers hope to go a fair way to helping historic competition with fundraising goal
Golfers and supporters of an historic Wolverhampton-based charity football competition are teed up and ready as they plan a final push towards a £500,000 fundraising target.
A golf day this Friday (March 27) at the Mount Club in Tettenhall will raise money for the JW Hunt Cup, which benefits the Sedgley-based Beacon Vision.

The football competition, which has been contested by amateur and semi-professional clubs across the West Midlands since 1926 and is this season celebrating its 100th year, is closing on its target of raising £500,000 in total.
Another golf day in December last year at the same venue raised £1,400 and a similar amount is expected from Friday's event, which will start at 12pm.

The cup has also received donations from sponsors including the Bilston-based JW Gough Group and the West Bromwich Building Society, and fundraiser Sylvia Enefer recently held a luncheon at her home in Codsall which raised £300.
She said: "It all counts and we are working tirelessly towards the magic £500,000 mark which we hope to raise by the centenary dinner in September.
"The final which is held at Molineux and which Dudley Town won last year is always a great event, well attended, and again raises money for the cup, which is kept at the ground.
"But the work goes on year round and events such as the golf day keep things ticking along.
"We are all very grateful to organiser Alan Ryder and his colleagues, the sponsors and of course the players for turning out for what I am sure will be a great day."
