West Midlands Police confirmed that officers attended reports of children on the roof of the long-abandoned Ravenscourt Shopping Centre building in the Brownhills area of Walsall.

The incident is the latest in a series of similar callouts, raising ongoing concerns about safety in the area.

In a message shared publicly, officers warned that derelict buildings pose serious risks, particularly to young people who may not fully understand the dangers. Unstable structures, weakened roofs, and hidden hazards such as exposed materials or unsafe flooring can all lead to severe injury or worse.

Anyone with concerns about unsafe sites or trespassing is encouraged to contact police through non-emergency channels.
