Brownhills lies on the ancient Watling Street, which has its origins to Saxon and Roman times. Yet its name had roots in the area’s mining past. A one time there were up to 10 mines working around the town before the industry’s decline by the 1950s. The town has been the focus of regeneration in recent years.
