'Irreparable damage': A Walsall pharmacy has changed its name after issues with another business with a similar name
A pharmacy in Walsall is changing its name - here's all the reasons why
A Walsall business man has rebranded his pharmacy name after another chain trading under the same title suffers ‘financial and operational issues’.
Manjit Jhooty, CEO and director of Pasab Ltd and Jhoots Healthcare, better known as Jhoots Pharmacies, has now rebranded his company to JHL Pharmacy.
He made the move after another pharmacy chain trading as Jhoots Pharmacies, operated by his brother Sarbjit Jhooty, has been at the centre of union allegations of staff going without pay and repeated cases of branches being closed.
All 150 pharmacies in the Jhoots brand are owned by one of the two brothers from Walsall.
Throughout the turmoil, Manjit has remained steadfast in the fact that all of his 21 stores are unaffected and remain open as usual.
He said the change in brand name comes after the ‘actions of other operators’ have caused ‘significant and irreparable damage to the brand name’.
On October 15 2025, MPs raised concerns about the running of the Jhoots Pharmacy chain in the House of Commons.
Later the same day, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood returned a £2,500 donation Manjit had made to her constituency office, saying she was ‘deeply concerned by the revelations relating to Jhoots Pharmacy’.
Alongside this, Manjit is also the chairman for regeneration boards in Darlaston, Walsall and Bloxwich, where each town has been granted £20 million worth of funding.

Speaking on the rebrand, Manjit said: “Although our businesses have been independent of each other since 2019, my directors and I feel it is necessary to further distinguish our operations beyond the public statements that have been made to date.
“We will therefore be rebranding to JHL Pharmacy, with a new supporting strapline of ‘Just Helping Lives’.
“Those who know my organisation will be familiar with the commitment we have to the pharmacy sector, to regulatory compliance, and to the local communities we serve. Our new strapline reflects these values.
“While we are saddened to see the Jhoots Pharmacy brand name go from the pharmacies I own after more than 20 years of hard work and dedication, we feel it is the most appropriate course of action given the circumstances. Looking ahead, we are fully focused on ensuring a smooth transition for all stakeholders.
“Most importantly, as JHL Pharmacy, our leadership and employees remain the same; our store locations remain the same; our governance and accountability remain the same; and our business strategy – to maintain a size of organisation that is both operationally and financially robust, which can provide sustainable employment opportunities, and a consistently high standard of customer service – remains the same.”
Eight pharmacies across the West Midlands region will be affected by the changes, including Bromford, Fox Hollies, Rowley Village, Wolverhampton, Darlaston, Erdington, Parkfields, and Milking Bank.
