Third man to go on trial in connection with Wolverhampton double murder last year
A man will go on trial with two other men in connection with a double murder in Wolverhampton last year.
Duaine Mills and Syed Zain Ali died after being shot in Leicester Street, Wolverhampton, September last year.
Samir Patel, 42, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court today (Thursday) charged with assisting an offender after being arrested in Walsall in January.
It comes after Mohammed Maneer Khan was charged in September with the murders of Duaine Mills and Syed Zain Ali as well as attempted murder, two firearms offences, and fraud by false representation.
Yaseen Patel, 34, from Birmingham, has been previously charged with assisting an offender.
A hearing will take place on April 10 to join Patel's case together with that of Khan and Maneer Patel. Their three week trial has been slated for July 20.
An application was made for bail for Patel's bail but Judge Jonathan Gosling refused.
He said: "The defendant is accused of helping a man accused of murder leave the juristiction so it is not appropriate for bail to be granted."
