Plans for five-bed Smethwick HMO for 14 people redrawn after ‘cramped’ criticism
A move to convert part of a shop into a HMO has been redrawn after previous ‘cramped’ plans were rejected for not providing enough space for couples to eat.

Smethwick bridges the Black Country with Birmingham but retains its own unique place in history as the original home of the world’s oldest engine made by engineers Matthew Boulton and James Watt. Its heritage was cemented with firms such as GKN and Chance Brothers glassworks employing many people. As of 2017, the Midland Metropolitan Hospital is being built here.
