Fire service warns to 'avoid area where possible' as five crews respond to Great Barr blaze

Commuters have been warned to avoid a major road in Great Barr as fire crews work to tackle a blaze in the area.

West Midlands Fire Service have warned everyone to avoid Queslett Road, Great Barr, after a fire broke out 'in the open'.

Five crews responded to the scene of the fire at around 5.44pm on Friday, with the fire service saying that the crews are making 'good progress' to quell the flames.

A fire service spokesperson said: "We have five crews in attendance off Queslett Road, Great Barr, where they have responded to a fire in the open. 

"Please avoid the area, where possible. Good Progress is being made."

Emergency services have been approached for more information.
