The walk, which is advertised as starting at 11.30am on Saturday, September 6, is being organised by the West Midlands Naturist Association.

West Midlands Police say they were aware of the planned naturist event, which will start on Harborne's Queen's Park Road, near to a children's play area.

The group shared details of the event on its X page, and also shared posters of the event online with a logo saying it was 'council approved.'

Councillor for Quinton, Sam Forsyth said: "I'm hoping this is a joke, a hoax or some kind of very early April Fool's.

"I've had no confirmation or notification from the council.

"It's causing quite a big concern because the car park is in the centre of Queens Park and I walk my dog there."

West Midlands Police said it had been made aware of the event but had no powers to either deny or grant permission.

A force spokesman said: "Events of this type do not require police approval and police have no powers to either deny or grant permission."

A petition to 'keep Birmingham streets family-friendly' has been set up in response to the event taking place, but has less than 20 signatures so far.
