West Midlands hit-and-run and shooting investigation to feature in tonight's Major Crimes Unit episode

The latest episode of Major Crimes Unit airs on Channel 5 at 9pm tonight

A deliberate hit-and-run and a shooting will be among the investigations featured in the latest episode of Channel 5's Major Crimes Unit tonight (Monday, October 26).

The fifth episode of the popular documentary series, which airs at 9pm, will follow West Midlands Police detectives as they investigate a series of serious crimes.

Among the cases featured is that of a young man who arrived at hospital with injuries to both hands, claiming he had been attacked by a friend's dog.

However, medical examinations raised questions about his account, prompting detectives from the force's Major Crime Unit (MCU) to investigate further.

CCTV footage from a shooting the previous night captured a confrontation involving three men and two vehicles, during which shots were fired.

Detectives must establish whether the shooting is linked to the young man's injuries as they work to piece together what happened.

The episode will also follow an investigation into a deliberate hit-and-run.

Produced by Raw Cut Television in partnership with West Midlands Police, the series gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the work of detectives tackling some of the region's most serious offences.

The force's Major Crime Unit is made up of proactive and reactive teams investigating crimes ranging from murders and shootings to county lines drug dealing and complex fraud.

The latest episode of Major Crimes Unit airs on Channel 5 at 9pm tonight.
