Hearing hears how West Bromwich Albion fan suffered 'blunt force' prior to death in Bulgaria as date for full inquest set
A date has been set for the full inquest for a Staffordshire West Bromwich Albion fan nearly seven years after his death in police custody in Bulgaria.
A pre-inquest hearing at County Buildings in Stafford on Thursday had revealed that witness statements and CCTV footage show that force was used prior to Rob Spray’s death.
Bulgarian officials, at the time, reported that Mr Spray, aged 32 of Heath Hayes in Staffordshire, had been initially found in a “helpless condition” before being taken to Pirogov hospital.
As reported in the Telegraph, a date for a full inquest has now been provisionally set for September following the reception of the translated witness statements and CCTV footage.
