Shropshire Council is currently undertaking road resurfacing repairs along with other infrastructure works in Bridgnorth.
Some of the work is being undertaken in Underhill Street, home to funeral directors Perry & Phillips, which has taken to social media to praise the efforts of the council team and the respect offered by workers when hearses need to pass.

A statement from Perry & Phillips Funeral Directors said: ”We appreciate that some people have been unhappy about the disruption. However, there is never an ideal time to undertake necessary work of this nature, and we feel it is important to recognise the outstanding way in which it has been managed by the Shropshire Council team.
“We are particularly grateful to John Flower from Shropshire Council, and his son, Dan. Their clear and thoughtful communication throughout the week has been exceptional. Despite our services being right at the heart of the works, everything has felt seamless because they have worked closely with us every day and shown consideration from every angle.
“The respect demonstrated by the entire team has genuinely touched us. Each day, whenever one of our hearses has needed to depart, work has paused and members of the team have even removed their headgear as the funeral cortege has passed. It has been a simple but incredibly meaningful gesture of respect for every person entrusted to our care.
“For us all here, this is an example of what can be achieved when people work together through clear communication, mutual understanding and respect. In many ways, it is precisely how we move forward positively as a community and as a society.
“To John, Dan and every member of the team working on Underhill Street: thank you. Your professionalism, kindness and respect have not gone unnoticed, and we are sincerely grateful.”
