Is your school open on Tuesday? Latest school closures for Staffordshire and the West Midlands and advice for parents
A number of schools in Staffordshire and across the West Midlands will remain closed today (Tuesday) as the cold weather spell continues to make its presence felt.
Schools across the West Midlands were forced to close their doors on Monday after snowfall on Sunday night, with freezing ice also making conditions difficult for motorists.
The West Midlands was included in a yellow warning for snow and ice on Sunday afternoon, with commuters being warned of potentially dangerous road conditions.
Staffordshire County Council has already listed a number of schools on its website that will remain closed today.
They are:
St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Rugeley - Closed due to snow
Tillington Manor Primary School, Stafford - Additional PHMAT INSET day
Wightwick Hall School - Due to snowfall, freezing conditions, and safety concerns relating to travel and the school site, the school will be closed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
C.E.D.A.R.S. Newcastle & Moorlands - Heavy snow/ice in and around the school site. Local road closures due to accidents and severe road conditions have made it unsafe and difficult for staff and many pupils who come in taxis to get to school. All parents/carers contacted and work to be sent home for today and the likely further closure today with more snow forecast for the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Sir Thomas Boughey High School - Due to snowfall, freezing temperatures, and associated travel and site access issues, the school will remain closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding.
Walton Hall Academy - Due to freezing temperatures and potential of more snow, the school will remain closed today. The roads surrounding the school are unsafe. We apologise for the inconvenience a further day of closure causes.
Alsagers Bank Primary Academy - Due to hazedous site and surrounding road school will be closed today
Madeley High School - Following continued freezing temperatures, no overnight thaw and a further risk of snow, site, transport and access conditions remain unsafe. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes and thank families for their understanding as we prioritise the safety of pupils and staff.
Ravensmead Primary School - School is closed due to the adverse weather conditions.
The Orme Academy - Due to snowfall, freezing temperatures, and associated travel and site access issues, the school will remain closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding.
All Saints Church of England Primary - Will be closed due to freezing temperatures and unsafe driving conditions for staff
Alleyne's Academy - Will be closed due to ongoing 'road temperatures' and 'poor conditions.
Bailey Street Alternative Provision Academy - will be cosed due to icy and unsafe conditions.
Berkswich CE(VC) Primary School - Will be closed due to snow and dangerous driving conditionssurrounding the school.
Castlechurch Primary School - Will be closed due to the snow and ice.
Chadsmoor Community Infant and Nursery School - Will be closed due to the cold weather. Please note, the Junior School will also be closed.
Chase View Community Primary School - Will be closed following inspections of the safety of the surrounding roads.

Other authorities in the West Midlands said a decision for a school top open or close is a matter for individual schools.
In Dudley, eight schools closed on Monday, though one for an inset day, and some are expected to remain closed today.
On their website Dudley Council said: "Most schools contact parents directly if there are any closures. We also advise you to check your school's website."

A spokesperson for Sandwell Council said: "Schools make their own decisions about opening when we have heavy snow or severe ice (and they will often take the decision on the morning rather than the day before).
"Therefore, our best advice for parents/carers would be as follows:
"If your child's school is closed due to the weather, they will contact parents and carers directly to let them know. Look out for a text or email from school, and check the school website or the school's social media channels.
"If you don't hear from your child's school, presume it's open as normal. Wrap up warm and wear sensible footwear for your journey."
Some schools across Walsall were also closed today and whilst there has been no notification of the same today, it is expected some maybe unable to open for lessons.
A spokesperson said: "We aren't aware of any schools who are closed today currently.
"This may change overnight so for the most accurate up-to-date information we recommend that parents await information from their respective schools, who will communicate with parents and carers directly regarding any closures.
"We suggest to check the school's websites and social media pages for the latest information.”
In Wolverhampton, so far one school has been closed due to the bad weather, however, it is advised to check your school's website and social media pages for its open status.

The Met Office has forecasted a very cold start today with another severe frost and a maximum temperature of four degrees celsius.
Today:
A mostly dry day, though often rather cloudy. Some brighter breaks are possible, mainly in the south. A few light wintry showers are possible. Tending to cloud over by late afternoon. Breezy and feeling cold once more. Maximum temperature 4 °C.
Tonight:
A band of rain sleet and hill snow will move eastwards across the region through the evening, clearing during the early hours. Icy stretches developing where skies clear later. Minimum temperature -2 °C.
Wednesday:
Another cold day is expected, with rather cloudy skies. A scattering of sleet and snow showers, these tending to ease later in the day. Gusty winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Most likely dry initially on Thursday. Then an increasing risk of heavy rain, sleet and snow, along with strong winds, which may linger into Friday. Sunshine and wintry showers Saturday.
