Wolverhampton Council has opened the window for applications for reception class places at infant and primary schools in the city, with families having until midnight on January 15 to register their preferences on the online application process.

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: “Parents or guardians of children who are due to start infant or primary school next September should make time now to apply for their place.

“This is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child’s future.

"The application process is straightforward and should only take a few minutes to complete.

“It’s important to remember that, if your child is already in nursery provision at an infant or primary school, you still need to apply for a reception class place for them.

"Please also get your applications in by the deadline of January  2026, as applying after this time could have a detrimental effect on your chance of securing a place at one of your preferred schools.”

Applications online are made through a secure website and can be viewed and edited online up to the closing date for applications of January 15, while applicants can also find out about their child's school place allocation online when it is announced in April, rather than having to wait for the post.

Anyone who needs help making their online application is invited to attend one of the School Application Surgeries being held at the Civic Centre on December 11, December 18, January 8 and January 15 from 10am to 2pm.

To apply, please log on to the admissions site on the Wolverhampton Council website and complete the short application process.
