The rankings take into account entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects - helping prospective students compare what really matters to them.
The Complete University Guide 2026 is out now, ranking the UK’s best universities overall and across 74 subject areas.
University of Wolverhampton, University of Staffordshire and University of Birmingham all feature in the list, but which comes out on top across the whole of the region?
Here are the universities in the West Midlands ranked from best to worst.
1. University of Warwick (UK ranking: 9, West Midlands ranking: 1)
Overall Score: 83 per cent / Entry Standards: 78 per cent / Student Satisfaction: 79 per cent / Research Quality: 86 per cent / Graduate Prospects: 85 per cent
2. University of Birmingham (UK ranking: 14, West Midlands ranking: 2)
Overall Score: 78 per cent / Entry Standards: 75 per cent / Student Satisfaction: 76 per cent / Research Quality: 86 per cent / Graduate Prospects: 83 per cent
