Appeal launched after teenage rider left severely injured after being hit by a car in Bilston

An appeal has been launched for witnesses after a teenager was left with potentially life-changing injuries after his bike was struck by a car.

West Midlands Police has launched the appeal after the incident on Wednesday evening, which happened on Vulcan Road in Bilston near the junction with Hare Street.

The force said the 17-year-old had been taken to hospital following the incident and remained there and has asked for anyone with any information about the silver Ford Kuga it said was involved in the incident.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Were you on Vulcan Road, Bilston, last evening at just after 7pm?

"We are investigating after a car struck a teenager on a Sur-Ron bike in a car park near the junction with Hare Street. The 17-year-old remains in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.

"Investigators understand the vehicle involved which left the scene was a silver Ford Kuga, which was on false plates.

"CCTV is being recovered and reviewed as door-to-door enquiries continue and investigators are asking anyone with dashcam to get in touch.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a cyclist on Vulcan Road at 7.27pm last night, one ambulance attended the scene. 

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the cyclist. 

"He was treated for a serious but non life-threatening injury, before being taken to New Cross Hospital.
