Two Walsall friends avoid jail after admitting injuring a doorman in brawl outside a Lichfield pub
Two Walsall friends have avoided jail after attacking a doorman during a melee outside a Lichfield pub two and a half years ago.
Mitchell Brittle, 31, and Owen Joseph, 28, threw chairs and glasses during a brawl they started outside a Lichfield pub on January 14, 2023.
A bouncer was attacked and received a nasty cut to the head as well as bruises to his face and head during the violent disorder. The brawl began when Joseph became "frightened and angry" after being accused "of something serious" by people inside the pub, a court heard. Within seconds chairs were flying and a doorman was left covered in blood.
CCTV cameras captured the brawl and attack on the door staff. After being presented with the CCTV evidence, Brittle, of King Edward Close, Darlaston, and Joseph, of Bloxwich Lane, Walsall, pleaded guilty to affray and assault causing actual bodily harm.
The pair were sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday (September 25) by Judge Jonathan Gosling KC.
