Shoppers urged to support independent traders in Walsall on Small Business Saturday
Residents in Walsall are being encouraged to shop local and support the borough’s small independent businesses this Small Business Saturday (December 6) in the run-up to Christmas.
Walsall Council is encouraging residents to visit local retailers on this Small Business Saturday - a national campaign highlighting the valuable contribution that local businesses make to high streets and communities across the country.

Of the 895 retail businesses in Walsall, 99.4 per cent are classed as micros or SMEs - from family run shops to cafés, salons and service providers.
Councillor Adrian Andrew, deputy leader of Walsall Council, said, “Small Business Saturday is a great reminder of just how important our independent businesses are to Walsall. They bring character, creativity and choice to our high streets and neighbourhoods, and every pound spent locally goes directly back into our community.
“With Christmas fast approaching, now is the perfect time to explore our markets, local shops and independent traders. Shopping local makes a real difference and helps ensure our town centres and local high streets continue to thrive.”
A host of market traders can be found at Walsall Market, Park Street, Walsall, which is open from 8.30am to 5pm on Saturday; Willenhall Market, Market Place, Willenhall, and Bloxwich Market, Market Place, Bloxwich, both of which are open from 9am to 4pm on Saturday.

Walsall Council says it continues to work closely with partners and traders to strengthen Walsall’s high streets, with investment across the borough focused on regeneration, improving public spaces, and supporting business growth and resilience.
Residents are encouraged to get involved on the day by sharing photos of their favourite independent purchases and experiences using the hashtag #ShopWalsall and #SmallBizSatUK.
