Black Country outfits Salisbury Poultry, 2 Sisters and Wedge Group feature in the Midlands Rich List 2025 which has been compiled by the Express & Star's sister publication Insider Media.

The ranking lists the top 50 wealthiest people and their families who run private companies across the entire West and East Midlands.

To qualify for the countdown, entrepreneurs or business leaders must either be working in a company they started themselves or inherited. The list also includes those still living in the area who have recently sold their main businesses but retained interests in other ventures.

A new entry for 2025, Raj Mehta and family are placed in 47th spot with an estimated wealth of £200 million in 2025.

Mr Mehta began his working life as an apprentice butcher in Bilston and then started his chicken-processing firm Salisbury Poultry in his mid-20s.

It supplies poultry to fast-food manufacturers, retailers and caterers and revenues climbed by more than ten per cent to £218.3 million in 2024.

Mr Mehta has also grown a sister company, Maelor Foods in Wrexham, which provides slaughtering services.

Turnover here has grown to £255.2 million and, with underlying profits of more than £47 million, the two companies should easily be worth £200 million.
