'We’re determined to say goodbye by offering even more amazing value to customers' - Poundland manager says as store closure and clearance sale update issued
A Poundland store in Birmingham is among an additional 10 selling off items ahead of closure.
The Perry Barr Poundland store at One Stop Shopping Centre is set to close on November 2, the discount chain confirmed today.
The Droitwich branch in Worcestershire, is also among the 10 additional stores being axed as the company looks to restructure in order to turn around its fortunes.

The stores will hold extensive clearance sales as they prepare for closure - offering reductions of up to 40pc, with items marked down in price until they’re sold.
All stock from homewares to groceries and clothing to health and beauty will be on sale.

Poundland said it brought its main 68-store closure programme to a conclusion last month, closing 57 stores by September 28, and placing a further 11 closures on hold.
In time it expects to operate a network of around 650 to 700 stores, compared to around 800 at the beginning of the restructuring programme, as leases expire or landlords exercise any option to serve notice.
The clearance sales underway and launching in the coming weeks are all taking place at lease-expiry locations as Poundland continues its programme to simplify its retail network around its best-performing sites to secure the future of the Black Country founded business.

Poundland’s UK country manager Darren MacDonald said: “We know how disappointing it is when we leave a store, but before we close our doors for a final time, we’re determined to say goodbye by offering even more amazing value to customers.
“The special reductions, on top of the value we provide in every store, will help us leave locations we’re leaving with pride.
“And when we close our doors, we look forward to welcoming customers to one of the hundreds of Poundland stores we’ll continue to operate right across the UK.”

Poundland in Walsall, in the Digbeth market area in the St Matthew's Quarter, is also holding a clearance sale ahead of its planned closure on Wednesday October 29, which was announced earlier this month.

A second Poundland store in Walsall town centre in Park Street will remain open.
Poundland has more than a dozen stores across the Black Country where it all began for the brand founded by entrepreneur Steve Smith and his late father Keith, both from Willenhall, and market trader Dave Dodd.
The first store opened in Burton-On-Trent in December 1990 and Poundland became one of the most popular names on the high street. It has struggled, however, since the Covid pandemic and in the face of increased competition from online retailers and the cost of living crisis.
The Merry Hill branch closed on July 18 as the company was unable to agree lease terms to continue trading there.
The discount retail chain's Shrewsbury branch closed on August 10 and the Newport store shortly after on September 28. Branches at Birmingham Fort and Erdington closed in August.
Poundland's Springvale Distribution Centre at Bilston is also earmarked for closure in early 2026.
