Newton Road towards West Bromwich had been blocked

A lorry that broke down at a busy junction in Great Barr this morning, blocking access to an A-road towards West Bromwich, has been cleared.

West Midlands Roads said the breakdown on the A4041 at the Scott Arms junction with Queslett Road, Birmingham Road and Walsall Road blocked access to Newton Road heading west.

A statement on social media earlier said: “Broken-down lorry on the junction. No access onto Newton Road towards West Brom.”

The AA traffic planner showed queues building on Queslett Road.

At about 8.30am Trasnsport for West Midlands said the lorry had been recovered.
