Wolves' new £1.5 million signing Sylvain Ebanks-Blake is at the centre of a police investigation following an alleged bottle attack at a nightclub.

The 21-year-old former Plymouth Argyle striker, who was set to make his debut in this afternoon's Championship clash with Crystal Palace at Molineux, is on bail pending further inquiries.

Ebanks-Blake was arrested at 4.15am following an incident in Plymouth last November in which a 37-year-old man suffered head injuries.

The victim, believed to be a doorman, sustained a near three-inch-long cut.

The player, who had starred in Argyle's 3-0 league victory over Norwich City the previous afternoon, was arrested and questioned by police before being given bail until next month.

Police said they intended to study CCTV footage.

Ebanks-Blake was previously on the books of Manchester United but made just two League Cup appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's side before moving to Plymouth 18 months ago.

His arrest prompted Ian Holloway, who was manager of Plymouth Argyle at the time, to say he did not take kindly to his players partying into the early hours.

Prolific goalscorer Ebanks-Blake, moved to Wolves earlier this week.
