Applications now open for 2027 secondary school places across Wolverhampton
Parents and carers can now apply for a secondary school place for the 2027/28 school year
Parents and carers of children currently in Year 6 across Wolverhampton are being invited to apply for a secondary school place for the next school year.
Wolverhampton Council said applications are now being taken for secondary school places for students who are due to start Year 7 next autumn for the 2027/28 school year.
The council said parents and carers can make applications via the Wolverhampton School Admissions website and complete the short online application form.
Families have until Saturday, October 31, to submit their application and are encouraged to explore the secondary schools available and what they have to offer.
To help parents, carers and pupils make their decision, schools will be holding open events to give them the opportunity to see what prospective students can expect.
The council also said that anyone who needs support making their online application is invited to attend one of the school application surgeries being held at the Civic Centre on September 10, September 24, October 15 and October 29, taking place from 10am to 2pm.
Councillor Jacqui Coogan, cabinet member for children, young people and education said: “If your child has just started their final year at primary or junior school, now is the time to start thinking about their secondary school place for next September.
“That may seem a long way off, but the closing date for applications for secondary school places is October 31.
“This is one of the most important decisions you can make for your child, so please don't miss the deadline.
“Ensuring applications are made by the end of October can increase the chances of securing a place at a preferred school.
“All of Wolverhampton’s secondary schools will be holding open events over the coming weeks, and I’d urge parents and children to see for themselves the facilities on offer and select their preferred schools before the application deadline.”
