Attempted murder charge following Wolverhampton city centre attack that left one with 'serious injuries'

A 63-year-old man has been charged after another man was left with serious injuries.

West Midlands Police have charged 63-year-old Clayton Patterson, of no fixed address, with attempted murder following an assault in Wolverhampton city centre. 

The man in his 60s was discovered with serious injuries in Dudley Street, in the city centre, just before 7.25pm on Wednesday, March 20, and remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Patterson, aged 63, was detained a short time afterwards and later charged with attempted murder. 

He was remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court today.

A force spokesperson said: "We've charged a man with attempted murder after another man was attacked in Wolverhampton city centre. A man in his 60s was discovered with serious injuries in Dudley Street at just before 7.25pm on Wednesday (20 March). 

"He remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital. Clayton Patterson was detained shortly afterwards.

"The 63-year-old, of no fixed address, has now been charged with attempted murder."
