One arrested as plain clothed officers stop theft in Wolverhampton

One man has been arrested by West Midlands Police's plain-clothed officers after they stopped a theft in progress.

West Midlands Police have announced that a successful arrest has been made after plain-clothed officers stopped a theft in progress in Wolverhampton on Saturday. 

Officers with Wednesfield and Heath Town Police were patrolling near the Crossways Shopping Centre when they disrupted a shop theft in progress inside the venue.

Goods were recovered by the officers, as well as a male being arrested, who was also further arrested in relation to multiple past thefts.

He was later charged and is due to appear in court at a later date. 

A force spokesperson said: "Yesterday, plain clothes officers stopped a shop theft in progress at Crossways Shopping Centre. 

"The goods were recovered and the male arrested. He was also further arrested after being linked to multiple past thefts. 

"He has been charged and will appear in court."
