The Flying Scotsman was the star attraction at the Severn Valley Railway (SVR) station in Kidderminster, where it officially started the first of three days' worth of journeys.

The rare appearance was organised to mark the reopening of the line in Bridgnorth following a devastating landslip in January, with the locomotive now ferrying thousands of travellers between the two stations over the weekend and Monday.

So, to help mark the special occasion, we decided to 'steam ahead' (pardon the pun) to Kidderminster's Severn Valley Railway station, take a look at the vintage locomotive ourselves.

As a disclaimer, it must be said that in no way call myself a railway enthusiast. On the contrary, I am most likely the father of it.

However, I couldn't help but be moved as I stepped onto the platform and saw the sheer amount of train fans enjoying each other's company.

There was laughter, joking and plenty of conversations of random groups of people sharing stories of seeing the iconic locomotive in days past.
