Conservative backbenchers have proposed a bill to rename the annual Bank Holiday Monday in late August as Margaret Thatcher Day.

The proposal came in a raft of parliamentary bills tabled by a group of Conservative backbenchers in their "Alternative Queen's Speech" and will debated in the House of Commons later this year.
