The plans, which will see around 150,000 workers handed shares worth millions of pounds, will allow it to become a "great British company", business minister Michael Fallon has predicted.
Staff are expected to be allocated 10% of the new company for free or at a steep discount, and by the time the controversial £3 billion sell-off is complete each individual could have received a windfall of up to £2,000.
