Target date for Lidl

Lidl wants to open its controversial new Wolverhampton store before Christmas, it was revealed today.

The budget chain won its bid to open on the former Castlecroft Garage site in Finchfield Hill last month, despite 365 objections.

Today the company's acquisitions manager Charlotte Davies said: "We don't have a start date for work yet but it will hopefully be in the next couple of months and we'd aim to be open before Christmas."

Objectors say the store will make traffic problems worse.
