After a poor first half - Albion took control of the game and they went on to win the game thanks to goals from Karlan Grant and Aune Heggebo.

Two benched keepers....again

Mason faced a few selection issues with no Alex Mowatt - and then a need to change it up and get a response from midweek.

He did that - but his bench made for interesting reading for a decision we have seen him make a few times this season.

Mason named two keepers on his bench with youngster Joe Wallis alongside Josh Griffiths.

The Baggies boss has done it a few times this season - when he has had the odd injury to contend with. But why?

To me it makes no sense. Why not throw another youngster on the bench? The likelihood is, that player won’t get on anyway.

Is it a message to the owners over his squad and a lack of depth? I’m not so sure.

Asked about it after and potentially putting a youngsters on the bench - Mason said they had to earn the right. Make of that what you will.

Empty seats.....again

Home attendances have been dwindling for some time now.

Probably in the last five or six home games we have seen a growing number of empty seats - but Friday night’s clash was the lowest for some time.

Parts of the ground looked like it could be an EFL Cup game.

You can understand why. Friday on TV are two reasons - but it is largely down to the situation and what Albion fans are seeing.

They have had enough at the moment and they are voting with their feet.

In front of the owners, it was not a good look. They won’t be happy about that, as much as they are unhappy about what they are seeing on the pitch.

Officially it was north 22,000 - but it was well below that.

Interestingly, prior to Sheffield United Albion had only lost once all season. But the home fans are not happy and it is showing

Owner in the house

Shilen Patel was in the house again for the Friday night clash.

It is hard to make a definite answer when it comes to speculation that he was in town with the pressure increasing on Mason from sections of supporters.

The reason for that is because of his high attendance at games. He was at QPR last Saturday - and again on Friday evening.

Whether he will continue to be at games while things are slightly rocky on the field remains to be seen.

As mentioned earlier the one thing he will be alarmed with will be the crowd and the low attendance.

There was some comfort for the Albion owner as he saw his side win - but the empty seats are worrying.
