Volkswagen’s Amarok goes stealthy with new Dark Label edition

High-specification truck gets a blackened design and larger alloy wheels.
Volkswagen has added a stealthy new specification to its Amarok.
Called the Dark Label Special Edition, it introduces a range of black and dark-coloured elements to the brand’s pick-up truck.
The roof rails, rear styling bars, side steps, exterior mirrors and bumpers are all finished in gloss black, alongside the front grille insert and skid plate. Finishing off the exterior look is 20-inch matte black alloy wheels, while buyers can also choose from metallic grey, metallic blue or – as you’d expect – metallic black paints.

The Dark Label also benefits from a load liner at the rear and a sliding load cover to help keep items secure when you’re on the move. Volkswagen’s high-powered IQ.Light LED headlights are equipped as standard, too, alongside a broad range of assistance systems.
Inside, the seats are trimmed in black ArtVelour microfleece fabric, and navigation and media are handled by a 12-inch infotainment system and 10-inch digital cockpit.

As with the standard Amarok, the Dark Label uses a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine with 236bhp and 600Nm of torque, driving all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic gearbox. All models get a rear differential lock as standard for improved capability over rough ground and a maximum payload of 1,000kg.
Prices for the new Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label start from £47,870 excluding VAT, placing it between entry-level Style and more luxurious PanAmericana specifications.
