There have been a few upsets in this month’s top 10 list.

October has been another good month for the new car market. Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that new car registrations rose by 5.4 per cent during the month, representing the eleventh consecutive month of growth.

But what were the best-selling cars? There have been a few upsets in this month’s top 10 list, so let’s take a look.

Jaecoo 7 – 3,412 registrations

It’s not hard to see why, either, with the 7’s low price but high level of standard equipment making it an attractive proposition to budget-focused buyers.

Ford Puma – 3,369 registrations

Frugal engines ensure that the Puma is cheap to run, too, but a good level of equipment comes standard on all models.

Volkswagen Golf – 2,642 registrations

Recent revisions have helped to make the Golf more intuitive overall, too, and with a great range of engines it offers something for everyone.

Mini Countryman – 2,480 registrations

The Countryman is also available as an electric vehicle, which can deliver over 300 miles of range from a charge.

Kia Sportage – 2,438 registrations

Like others here, it’s available with a suite of engines including hybrid powertrains that can help to lower running costs.

Mini Cooper – 2,432 registrations

It’s also equipped with an eye-catching new OLED circular display which brings the trademark Mini dials bang up to date.

Nissan Qashqai – 2,420 registrations

Today, the Qashqai remains true to the original car’s ethos, albeit with a good level of modern-day technology and smooth-running hybrid engines.

MG HS – 2,393 registrations

It’s a core rival for many cars on this list, such as the Qashqai and Jaecoo 7, but goes up against them with a real focus on affordability and tech.

Audi A3 – 2,322 registrations

It remains available in both hatchback and saloon forms, too, and there’s a great range of engines to choose from.

Jaecoo 5 – 2,171 registrations

It’s also available with petrol, hybrid and fully electric powertrains, with that final option able to return up to 248 miles of range.
