These were the best-selling cars in July

The month proved to be another strong one for the UK car market.
The new car market experienced a strong July, with figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders showing an eighth consecutive month of rising registrations.
In all, 156,571 cars were registered during the month, but which ones were the most popular? Let’s find out.
Ford Puma – 3,531

The Puma is well priced, has plenty of on-board technology and is more spacious than you might expect. It all ties together in a car which still looks great, too.
Nissan Qashqai – 3,224

It also comes with several useful functions, including rear doors which open to 90 degrees to make getting child seats in and out of the back much easier.
Kia Sportage – 3,205

On the outside, the latest Sportage is pretty striking thanks to futuristic styling.
Jaecoo 7 – 2,709

The 7 is also available as a very efficient plug-in hybrid which can help to drive down costs.
MG HS – 2,703

Like other Chinese-made cars, the HS is packed with features and represents great value-for-money.
Ford Kuga – 2,533

Alongside this, the Kuga is practical and solid inside. Like others here, it’s available with a good range of efficient engine options, too.
Jaecoo 5 – 2,481

The 5 is also available as an electric car, bringing a range of up to 282 miles from a single charge.
Volkswagen Golf – 2,413

The latest Golf is available with a very broad range of engine options, too, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and – in a traditional choice – diesel.
MINI Cooper – 2,350

The latest Mini continues to be a stylish choice with loads of customisation on offer. There’s a zippy electric model available, too.
Vauxhall Corsa – 2,326
Vauxhall is set to introduce its performance Corsa GSe in September, too, which will no doubt boost this hatchback’s popularity further.
