Super-powerful Aston Martin DB11 AMR revealed

British luxury manufacturer’s flagship machine gets a new range-topping motorsport-inspired 630bhp performance monster – the mightiest Aston currently available
Keen-eyed enthusiasts will know those last three letters hint at something rather special, but in case you’re not aware, AMR stands for Aston Martin Racing – the luxury firm’s motorsport arm.

Now it’s got its hands on the DB11 -more specifically, the 5.2-litre V12 version. The headline news is the fettling done to the twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder engine, which has resulted in a 30bhp increase – taking the total to a staggering 630bhp, while torque remains unchanged at 700Nm.

It’s not just more power here, though. Refinements have been made to the chassis to improve handling, while a recalibration of the eight-speed automatic gearbox means shift points have been optimised to make the most of the increased power. The exhaust has also been adjusted to give the V12 a more raucous note.

It doesn’t end there, either. Gloss black highlights include the roof, side sills and front splitter, which contrast with exposed carbon-fibre vents on the bonnet and sidestrakes.

As for colour options, any of the DB11’s existing hues are on offer but three ‘Designer Specifications’ can be selected, along with a model-exclusive ‘AMR Signature Edition’. The latter consists of a Stirling Green body colour with lime green highlights that also carry through to the interior. Just 100 examples of the AMR Signature Edition are available.
