Battery-powered model can return up to 286 miles of range on a single charge.

Kia has broadened its range of electric vans with the new PV7.

Based on the brand’s E-GMP.S platform – which also underpins the smaller PV5 electric van – the new PV7 has been designed to be as versatile as possible.

Offered with two battery options through a 71.5kWh unit and a larger 96.2kWh pack, the PV7 has a claimed range of up to 286 miles from a single charge, while a maximum charge speed of 350kW means a 10 to 80 per cent charge can be completed in around 25 minutes. Kia has yet to announce full range figures for the entire PV7 line-up.

All versions will use a single electric motor with 268bhp, though a four-wheel-drive model is expected to join the line-up shortly.

On the space front, however, the PV7 offers a maximum payload of up to 1,165kg for Long and up to 1,200kg for Compact variants. The Long model also has a 550mm load height and space for up to three Euro pallets.

In addition to panel van versions, the PV7 will also be available in passenger specification and offer seating for up to 11 people. Kia says that a seven-seater model will also be equipped with ‘easy remove seats’ to help transform it into a standard van quickly and easily.

The forward part of the cabin uses many components found on Kia’s passenger cars, though the stand-out screen is different to the integrated ones that are used on the brand’s car range.

The full PV7 range looks to include Cargo, Passenger and Chassis Cab variants, with a variety of heights and lengths available for each.

Full UK pricing for the new Kia PV7 is expected to be announced shortly.
