We visit a cosy and friendly Stourbridge tea room where the owner bakes cakes, scones, brownies and blondies from scratch
From soft, fluffy scones to gooey brownies and blondies, Charlie Mainprice’s handmade bakes are going down a treat with visitors to her cosy tea room.
The Sugar Loaf Company in the heart of Stourbridge offers a warm welcome and a space to pause and unwind.
It is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas and the freshly baked goods are always a huge draw.
“I bake everything from scratch,” says mother of three Charlie.
“I have always liked baking and have even applied several times to the Great British Bake Off over the years but haven’t been successful yet. I am also really passionate about customer service,” she adds.
Charlie opened her first business, Truly Scrumptious Boutique, in Victoria Passage in October 2023 after stepping away from her corporate job.
When the unit next door became available in August last year, she fulfilled a long-held dream by also opening Truly Scrumptious Tea Room.
Her vision had been to knock through to create one large tea room/gift shop boutique but she was unable to do so due to the restrictions and age of the building.
