From Wolverhampton to the West End's Starlight Express - Nicole Louise Lewis is proud of her roots
From Wolverhampton to the West End's Starlight Express - Nicole Louise Lewis is proud of her humble roots.
It may not be the biggest city, but Wolverhampton certainly packs a punch in the entertainment industry with the likes of Liam Payne, Goldie, Beverley Knight, and others making names for themselves on the international stage. Among the new generation of rising stars is actor Nicole Louise Lewis who is currently starring as the boisterous fuel truck Slick in Starlight Express, Andrew Lloyd Webber's roller skating production at London's Wembley Park Theatre.
The 29-year-old, who grew up in Low Hill, is a former pupil at Fallings Park Primary School in Old Fallings Lane, and the former Northicote School which was situated in Northwood Park Road in Bushbury, before studying performing arts at Wolverhampton College. She recalls that dance studio facilities at the recently closed campus in Compton were not the best, but the talented students made do despite there being "carpet on the floor and we had to move the mirrors round".

Nicole says: "I've been dancing since I was four or five years old and I went to Caroline Lewis Performing Arts which was based at St Anthony's Catholic Primary School for my lessons. I was there every Saturday and all day on Sundays too. I used to sing, dance and do acting. I went on to do the London Royal College of Music singing exam and the diploma in Musical Theatre.
"I also did a lot of singing in youth choirs when Elaine Buckland was leading a lot of them in the area including at the Grand Theatre youth programme. That's why it was such a privilege for me to return to the Grand as part of the SIX 2023-2024 tour to when I played Catherine of Aragon.
