WI celebrate 100 years with Calendar Girl style fundraising calendar

Taking inspiration from the iconic original “Calendar Girls”, the women of Leigh and District WI have created a tasteful and uplifting calendar that celebrates their members, their friendship, and a century of WI spirit. Each month features members in creative, humorous and heartwarming poses that pay homage to the famous story, while showcasing the group’s courage, confidence and sense of fun.

Mrs Sandra Sidwell, President of Leigh and District WI said “We wanted to do something that truly reflected who we are – strong, supportive women with a sense of humour and a passion for helping others. This calendar celebrates 100 years of Leigh and District WI while raising funds for causes close to our hearts”.

Funds raised from the calendar will go directly to the Burton Hospital Breast Unit, which provides vital care and support to patients and families affected by breast cancer, as well as community projects within Leigh and surrounding area.

The official launch event takes please on Friday, November 14, at The Star Inn at Church Leigh ST10 4PT, where guests will get the chance to purchase the calendar and celebrate this special milestone with the WI members. Everyone is welcome to attend and join in the celebrations.

“This calendar isn’t just about the photos – its about confidence, community and camaraderie” added Mrs Sidwell. “It’s our way of saying thank you to the WI and to everyone who has supported us for the past 100 years”

Calendars will be available to purchase at the launch and from WI members, with all proceeds supporting the Burton Hospital Breast Unit and the local community.
