Stafford mum launches fundraiser after daughter’s marathon challenge

A Stafford mum has organised a community fundraising event after her seven-year-old daughter took on an impressive challenge to support a local brain injury charity.

Sharne Reynolds, from Stafford, was inspired to arrange a quiz night and raffle after her daughter ran the equivalent of a marathon over several weeks to raise money for Headway South Staffordshire.
What began as a challenge for the youngster has grown into a wider fundraising campaign, with Sharne hoping to raise money while also highlighting the support available through Headway.
The quiz night will feature a raffle, with local businesses already donating prizes and offering their support.
Sharne described the response from businesses as "incredible" and said it demonstrated the strength of the Stafford community.
She particularly thanked Barry Dean at Stafford Rugby Club for his generosity, along with everyone who has donated prizes or helped promote the event.
She also praised Annmarie, manager of Headway South Staffordshire, who took the fundraising idea to the charity's board for approval and has continued to support Sharne.

"Headway is very close to our family, which makes this even more meaningful to me," said Sharne.
"We want to raise as much money as we can, but we also want to raise awareness of the services available and the positive impact they have on the people who use them."
As part of the campaign, Sharne will share testimonials from current and former Headway members, giving people an insight into the difference the charity has made to their lives.
She hopes the quiz night will become an annual event and create a lasting fundraising tradition in Stafford.
"My daughter's marathon challenge started this journey, and I'd love to see it grow into something that we can continue every year," she said.
"The support we've received so far has been amazing. We want to raise money, raise awareness and hopefully make a real difference to a charity that means so much to our family."
