Cannock Rotary enjoys fun and fellowship at bowling green event
‘The event drew the attention of many people in the town’
On a lovely sunny afternoon 40 Rotarians, family and friends held their first fellowship event of the new Rotary year, hosted by The Cannock Bowling Green Club.

The evening event gave everyone attending the chance to try their hand at croquet, golf putting and, of course, crown green bowling, but more importantly to enjoy some fellowship together.
Cannock Chase MP Josh Newbury, who is an honorary member of Cannock Rotary, bowled the first wood to get the event under way.

The Cannock Bowling Green, which has been in situ for more than 250 years, is one of only a handful in the country to be located in the heart of a town centre.
The event drew the attention of many people in the town, some of whom stopped to watch as spectators for part of the evening.

A number of members of the bowling club joined the event, and club captain Malcolm Brittle said it was good to see the green being used for a social occasion. Malcolm also welcomed Josh Newbury MP on his first visit to the bowling green and said he hoped he would return to meet more members of the club.

Rotary Club president Colin Sutton thanked Cannock Bowling Green Club for its hospitality in hosting the event and thanked everyone for taking part. Colin said his theme for the year is 'Fun, Fellowship and Friendship' and that the event embraced all three. He then presented prizes to the three winners and thanked everyone involved in organising the evening's activities.

Due to the success of the event, the club is now planning to hold another sports-based event next year.
