Cannock group gets tips on spotting scams
Soroptimist International Cannock and District members heard advice on spotting scams and protecting personal information
Members of Soroptimist International Cannock and District discussed how to recognise scams and stay safe online at their September meeting.

Guest speaker Phillip Lawrence explained how scams can arrive through letters, telephone calls and doorstep visits, as well as online messages.
He talked about the tricks used to persuade people to hand over money or personal information, and some of the warning signs to look out for.
These can include spelling and grammar mistakes, unusual wording and stories designed to appeal to people's generosity.
The group also discussed some of the terminology associated with the digital world, from search engines and web browsers to cookies and artificial intelligence.
Mr Lawrence advised members to take care when opening emails, think before clicking on links and be cautious about sharing personal information.
His main message was simple: if in doubt, stop and check. He also reminded members that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Jill Mason gave the vote of thanks at the end of the meeting.
