The first was the club's Annual Finals Day on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, when four competitions which had been running throughout the season reached their finals.

The matches were closely contested, with members also gathering to support the finalists competing for trophies, some of which date back more than 50 years.

Tony Smith won the novice trophy after beating Dave Griffiths, while club captain Malc Brittle took the singles handicap title after defeating vice-captain Colleen Oebal.

In the pairs handicap, Barry Dean and Malc Brittle beat Dave Griffiths and Robin Bhagerutty. Andy Brittle won the singles scratch competition, beating Adrian Bell.

The club then held its Presidents Day on Friday, September 4, with members, family and friends invited to join in a more relaxed celebration.

Players were encouraged to wear braces and hats for a short Jack competition, while the day also included a picnic lunch and a 'Guess the Weight of the Cake' competition, with the winner taking home the cake.

Club president Des Pugh said it had been a privilege to hold the position during the season.

He thanked the captain, vice-captain, vice-president, committee and members for their work throughout the year, particularly in maintaining the bowling green in excellent playing condition.

He also highlighted the club's Open Day, which attracted new members, as well as five competition days and a programme of friendly matches against other clubs.

The bowling green will remain open for general play until October.

Anyone interested in joining the club can visit the pavilion for an application form or contact captain Malc Brittle on 07483 865142.
