New bookshop brings fresh literary buzz to Stafford farm
A brand-new independent bookshop has officially arrived at Amerton Farm in Stafford — and it’s already capturing the hearts of local readers.
The Bookery, founded by local entrepreneur Charlene Hughes, has opened its doors with a simple mission: to create a warm, welcoming space where stories bring people together. After being diagnosed with a form of blood cancer last year, Charley decided to follow a lifelong dream of opening a bookshop — choosing to start small, build locally, and focus on community.
The Bookery is best known for its popular “Blind Date with a Book” — beautifully wrapped mystery reads complete with genre clues, a bookmark, reading tracker, stickers, and a loyalty card. Shelves are also stocked with a wide range of new titles across multiple genres, alongside thoughtful bookish gifts including TBR jars and reading accessories.

Located within the artisan hub at Amerton Farm, the shop adds to the growing mix of independent businesses on site, offering visitors a cosy space to browse, discover, and connect.
With excitement building ahead of the official launch, The Bookery promises to be more than just a shop — it’s a place for fellow readers to feel at home.
