National performance data released earlier this month shows the school ranked in the top 2 per cent of all schools in Wolverhampton for academic performance based on the 2025 SATs. It also stands as the highest-performing school in the city for disadvantaged pupils, reflecting its unwavering commitment to equity and excellence for every child.

This success has been further reinforced by Ofsted following an inspection on 10 and 11 June 2025. Inspectors concluded that the school’s work may have improved significantly across all areas since its previous inspection. As a result, Ofsted confirmed that the school’s next visit will be a full graded inspection, signalling strong confidence in the school’s sustained improvement.

The inspection report praises the school’s high-quality education, exemplary behaviour, and strong values-led ethos. Pupils were found to achieve highly across the curriculum, supported by a carefully sequenced and ambitious curriculum that ensures learning is taught in the right order at the right time.

A defining feature of the school is its virtues-led approach to education, where academic excellence goes hand in hand with character development. Inspectors described pupils as confident, reflective, respectful, and kind, with a strong understanding of responsibility and citizenship. Classrooms were calm and purposeful, with pupils eager to learn and clearly happy at school.

Early reading was highlighted as a particular strength. Inspectors noted that all staff are well trained and deliver the school’s reading programme with consistency and precision. Where pupils need additional support, it is quickly put in place, making the school highly successful in teaching all children to read.

The report also commended the school’s swift identification and effective support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring that all pupils participate fully and achieve well.

Attendance was recognised as another area of strength, with high attendance and low persistent absence that continue to exceed national figures. The school has also been successful in achieving the Leading Parent Partnership Award, this strong culture of engagement plays a key role in pupils’ academic and personal success.

Beyond the classroom, Ofsted praised the school’s rich extra-curricular offer, including clubs such as wrestling, choir, and chess, alongside educational visits and residential experiences that help pupils build confidence, independence, and leadership skills.

Nishkam Primary School Wolverhampton is part of the Nishkam Schools Multi-Academy Trust, recently ranked among the top three of more than 1,450 trusts in England. The Trust oversees a family of faith-inspired schools across Birmingham, West London, Derby, and Leeds, united by a shared vision of academic excellence, character development, and service to society.

Inspectors highlighted the Trust’s clear vision and effective oversight, noting its positive impact on leadership, staff morale, and continuous improvement. Safeguarding arrangements were confirmed to be effective, underpinned by a strong culture of care and vigilance.

Mr Harmander Singh Dhanjal, Headteacher, said:

“We are incredibly proud of our pupils, staff, families, and the wider Nishkam community. These outcomes and this report reflect our shared commitment to excellence, values, and inclusion, which continue to guide everything we do.”

This latest recognition confirms that Nishkam Primary School Wolverhampton is not only maintaining high standards but continuing to strengthen its provision and outcomes for all pupils, as it looks ahead with confidence to its next Ofsted inspection.
