Celebrating excellence: BHSEA unveils 2025 award winners

Birmingham Health Safety and Environment Association (BHSEA) celebrated its annual awards this week, recognising members who have shown outstanding commitment to improving health, safety, and environmental practice.

The Chair’s Special Recognition Award went to Liz Prophett, who has dedicated more than 25 years to BHSEA. As a former Secretary and now Trustee, Liz remains a driving force within the association, supporting events, engaging with members and helping to raise BHSEA’s profile across the sector.

The Membership Recognition Award was presented to Ken Davies from the City of Wolverhampton College for referring seven new student members, with Emma Woodhouse of Walker Health & Safety Services highly commended.Emma also claimed first place in the Membership Spotlight Award, followed by Geoff and Trudy Whittingham of Prime Solutions and Sara Knight of Safeline.

The Construction Special Achievement Award was awarded to Andy Rolinson of Equans, a Trustee and former Construction Committee Chair, in recognition of his ongoing support for events, speakers, and sector engagement.

The High Five Awards, voted by members, recognised Louise Mansfield of Bevan Brittan for her Legal Update event, Jason Anker, and Alex Daw alongside ‘Giddy’ the Fire Dog for their exceptional contributions.

Marisa Firkins, BHSEA Chair, said: "These awards celebrate the commitment and enthusiasm of our members. This year’s winners truly reflect the values of BHSEA, contributing their time and expertise to share knowledge, support our community, and raise standards in health, safety and the environment. It’s inspiring to see the impact they have within our community, and we’re proud to recognise their achievements and the difference they make across the association and our wider sector.”
