Wolverhampton Wheelers host thrilling Cyclocross at new Himley Hall venue

Wolverhampton Wheelers Cycling Club delivered an unforgettable day of racing as part of the West Midlands Cyclocross League on Sunday, reinstating a stunning new course at Himley Hall, thanks to the support of Dudley Borough Council.

Set against the backdrop of the historic Himley Hall and its picturesque parkland, the event attracted a strong field of competitors, including riders who regularly feature in national and international cyclocross and road racing events.

The challenging course combined technical woodland sections, grass switchbacks, and demanding climbs, offering a true test of skill and endurance.

Spectators were treated to thrilling battles across all age categories, from Under 6 youth riders through to the age 70+ Masters riders.

The atmosphere was electric, with Wolverhampton Wheelers putting on a great showcase of cycling for visitors and spectators. There was a lot of support for riders who enjoyed the vibrant community spirit that defines cyclocross.

Event organisers praised the collaboration with Dudley BCC for making the venue possible, having received such positive feedback on the course from the cycling community.

Club Chairman Phil Metcalfe shared “Thanks to the British Cycling race officials and WWCC volunteers for helping showcase that Cyclocross is such a safe and fun event.”

Wolverhampton Wheelers continue to play a pivotal role in promoting grassroots cycling with an ever-growing membership.

As the League progresses, all eyes will be on the next round at Baggeridge on November 23 - but for many, Himley Hall will be a course to remember!
