‘Dancing Queen’ Joyce shares the secret to a long, happy life
A twinkle-toed Walsall woman has shared her secret to a long life – never stop dancing.
Joyce Riley, who lives at Parklands Court Care Home on Park Road, turned 97 this month and celebrated with a joy-filled family party that included a chance to boogie.
Twenty-one members of her family, including her children, Georgina, Michael and Gavin, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren, joined Joyce, who loved every moment of the celebrations.

It was the first birthday Joyce had spent at the Advinia Healthcare home, which she had moved into in March, and her care team ensured she had a special day.

Joyce said: “I had the most wonderful birthday party – thank you to everyone who made it possible.
“The best part was seeing all my family and spending time with my children and grandchildren. Seeing my children happy is the best thing ever, it makes me happy.
“What’s my secret to living a long life? Never stop dancing and singing, and be happy in everything you do!”

The kitchen team prepared a buffet for the family to enjoy and care workers made sure Joyce was looking fabulous for the occasion.
According to colleagues at Parklands Court, Joyce is a cherished member of their community and brings sunshine to every day.
Activities Coordinator Allie Ranford said: “Joyce is a bundle of fun, and we all love her.

“The minute any music is played here at Parklands Court, she’s up straight away and dancing.
“We call her our ‘Dancing Queen’ because she’s always on her feet. Happy Birthday, Joyce, here’s to many more.”
