Dudley author overcomes adversities to release book

My dream was always to write a novel, being partially based on some of my own life experiences growing up as a British born Indian teenager in 1980s England, titled ‘The Bus Driver’s Son’, it’s a semi-autobiographical coming of age story that deals with themes like, dual cultural identities, courage, friendship, racial tensions, family and self-discovery.

Unfortunately I ended up working with an independent publisher, and the experience was frustrating and exceptionally stressful. I was actually thinking of giving up on my dream due to the amount of stress on me. Though I ultimately refused to give up and fought every step of the way, in spite of many personal and professional challenges I was experiencing simultaneously, and the fear my dream project may not see the light of day.

My resilience and determination paid off, and book has been published now. I do believe my own story is one people can resonate with, and your dreams are worth fighting for. Not only does it parallel the central characters many challenges in the book, but those of my own, as an author and my personal challenges whilst working on it and getting it published.
