Dwayne Johnson is nearly eaten by a hippopotamus in the action-packed trailer for Jumanji: Open World.
The franchise is back for a fifth and final instalment and sees Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black reprising their roles from the previous two films.
The trailer begins with returning character Spencer (Alex Wolff) saying “I think Jumanji has spilled out into the world” as various creatures cause chaos in a public square.
A new quartet of characters are then transported into the Jumanji game and have to inhabit the bodies of four avatars, led by Dr Xander “Smolder” Bravestone (Johnson).
The trailer then sees Bravestone and Ruby Roundhouse (Gillan) fighting off a group of thugs on a train.
They then travel through a jungle with Professor Sheldon Oberon (Black) and Franklin “Mouse” Finbar (Hart) who accidentally fires a bazooka into the air.
Near the end of the trailer, Bravestone stands in front of a body of water before a hippopotamus leaps forward and puts him into its mouth.

Jumanji: Open World is directed by Jake Kasdan who also directed Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019).
The franchise began with Jumanji (1995) and was followed by the spin-off Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005) before the franchise was rebooted 12 years later.
The three films starring Johnson, Gillan, Hart and Black have been positively received by critics and the franchise has grossed two billion US dollars worldwide.
